He is certainly no less important in the history of Jamaican music. Toots & the Maytals - Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of reggae and ska music. Frederick "Toots" Hibbert, the leader of the group, was born in Maypen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica.

Toots Hibbert - Frederick "Toots" Hibbert (born 1946) is a legendary Ska and roots reggae singer and leader of the reggae band Toots and the Maytals. He was born in May Pen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, as the youngest of seven children.

54-46 That's My Number - "54-46 That's My Number" is a song by Fred "Toots" Hibbert, recorded by Toots & the Maytals and originally released on the album In the Dark in 1967. In the following year it was re-released as a single.

Do the Reggay - Do the Reggay is a reggae song by The Maytals. Written by Toots Hibbert and produced in 1968, it is believed to be the first use of the word reggae in song, and is thus a founding song for the genre.
